Labour Day

On Labour day my aunty took my cousins, sister and I for a walk down to the beach. I was pushing my sister in the pram and everybody walked beside us. We left at 10:00am and got there at 10:30am. When we got there, my cousin Cecilia and I laid down on the sand while my younger cousin Cadence and my sister built a castle next to us. Then they left to go play on the playground.

I saw my cousin pick up some sand and threw it under my pants so while she wasn’t looking, I put some sand in her underwear. I started to laugh and she was shocked but then she started laughing with me. My aunty said “Let’s go now, because we have to go and buy lunch”, when we were about to go and see what my cousin and sister were up to.

We went to the fish and chips shop for lunch. When we got there it was closed so we crossed the road to go to the bakery. I bought a mince and cheese pie, my cousins bought bacon  and egg pie and my sister got a sausage roll. My aunty bought 4 sugar donuts for us to eat. She bought a Mountain dew and Pepsi at Supervalue.

We walked back home to have our lunch. It was a tiring and sunny day. When we got home my cousin and I set the table outside, we got 4 plates and 4 glasses. I put some mountain dew into the glasses and served the food on their plates. My mum and dad said “We have to go now because we have to go and buy you and Nathan’s summer shoes”. It was a beautiful day, I got to hang out with my cousins, sister and aunty.

Food Technicraft

On Thursday Room 7 and 8 headed to the bus to go to Pakuranga Intermediate. I am always comfortable sitting at the front with Agnes. We both wondered what was going to happen, at food tech.

We all lined up and our teacher told us to walk inside. We got to choose a partner, I was partnered up with Agnes. “Hello, my name is Miss Plows”, she said. We went over some safety rules and she showed us where the kitchen equipments were. The bell rang for Morning Tea.

After morning tea we went back to class. Miss Plows gave us each a copy of the recipe. “We are making toasted canopy”, Miss Plows said. Agnes and I were very excited, we got out our equipment and put it on the bench.

Agnes grated the cheese, onion, and chopped up the ham into tiny small pieces. While she was grating I was cutting the crust off the bread and placing them on the muffin tray. Agnes put the ingredients on top of the  bread.

We put the tray in the oven, during that time Agnes was cleaning the table and I was washing the dishes. I checked the oven and it was ready we bought it out and placed it on the bench. I really enjoyed baking and it was delicious.

Another Cast

On Friday my nana and I woke up at 7:00, we both had a shower and got ready to go to my nana’s appointment. We stayed for a while with my mum because my baby brother just woke up. “Lets go now Dehnyse”, my nana said, so off we went.

First, we stopped at my cousin’s house to pick up my aunty because she was using my nana’s car to go to school. Before she went to school, she dropped my nana and I off to Greenlane hospital. My nana and I went to reception and she gave them a letter for her appointment to get her leg x-rayed.

The lady told us to go to Radiology and give her the note that she gave us. We waited for 5 minutes then my nana was called to go and see the doctors, to get her leg x-rayed. “It is ok but you still have to have another cast for 4 weeks“, the doctor assured her.

Afterwards my nana got a pink bright cast and we went off to have breakfast at Coffee to go. After we had breakfast, we both had to wait outside for two hours. I got bored so I bought a cookie. When I walked outside, I saw my aunty so my nana and I went inside the car. I was happy that I spent my day with my Nana.

White Sunday

White Sunday is a special Sunday to prepare children to talk about bible stories, poem, short statements or plays. We would wear white dresses or Puletasi and Pale - Head Lei.

We began our entrance by lining outside the church while family members were seated inside. It was freezing outside, but the excitement was too overwhelming because it was the first time I’ve participated such a special occasion.

When it was time to perform, the feeling of nervousness kicked in. My sister’s age group was first to perform and each student did really well by saying their short statement.

In my class we all had a part in a play, my part is
“Faafetai Iesu i lou alofa mai, faafetai ua ou malolo” Ona ou faapea atu lea.

After I said my part, I closed my eyes and said a ‘Thank you’ prayer to God for giving me the courage to speak up in front of people.
It was almost time to go. My family was proud of my sister and I.
